Geomondo S.r.L. is a start-up company born on the idea and on the technological development started in 2006 with the aim of implementing a multi-medial platform of an absolutely singular nature: the kind of photographic navigation defined as immersive.
The immersive shots of Geomondo enable you to visit a place through dynamically connected photographs at 360 degrees.
They are made by specialised teams, thanks to a technology patented and used in Italy already one year before Google’s Street view: an innovative system used for mapping more than 13,500 km streets in 180 Italian towns for the production of Telecom Design for Seat Pagine Gialle.
The view from the street, selected by Google’s Street View is not enough to make it useful for tourist views of given areas.
To enjoy a tourist area, you have to get out of the car and move on foot in the old towns, on the beaches and inside historical buildings.
These were the strong motivations that induced Geomondo to implement and use the pedestrian kit, designed and made by the know-how consolidated in previous years.
The unique nature of this photographing system gives you the opportunity to view and make best use of also of interiors such as shopping and fun malls with the possibility to show on-line: shops, common areas, pleasure areas, multiplex cinemas and everything the sector can offer.
Moreover, the adaptability of the technology enables Geomondo to periodically update the digital maps (3 – 6 – 12 months).
In this way, local administrations can manage and control their area showing its evolutions and changes.
In the tourism sphere, for Visual Lombardy, following the immersive format designed by Telecom Design, to make the most of Italian tourism areas, new technological solutions were developed which make it possible to create digital maps also off-street:
- in the pedestrian parts of historical centres, also on several storeys and in the crypts.
- on board boats, in naval, maritime river and lake routes
- on cycling lanes
- on skiing tracks and mountain passes
This technological versatility is essential to efficiently show every tourist destination; it is completed by planning, by the shots, by the attention given to the meteorological conditions and by the precious cooperation with various area bodies, which actively support Geomondo’s activity.
All this makes it possible to create an extraordinary voyage in the beauties of an area never experienced before the world wide web and soon to be used on smartphone platforms.
